As I stated in my review of Golf Pad GPS, I believe the easiest way to improve your game is to know how you play your game. You can identify areas you need to work on, what you’re doing well and how you can lower your score.
Being a “weekend golfer”, or at least someone that doesn’t play 2-3 times a week, I need to know what I’m doing well and poorly to improve my game. Since using Golf Pad GPS, I am better able to track my shots and scores and identify areas that need improvement. I don’t have the luxury of going to the driving range daily, or playing multiple rounds a week to better understand my game, but Golf Pad GPS does help me understand the rounds I do play. I have been able to better understand my fairway shots, how many Greens in Regulation (GIR) I hit and how well I’m putting.
I can easily keep track of my fairway shots, sand shots, puts, score and penalties on every hole. The app even makes recommendations on each shot based on distance, elevation and even weather.
Greens in Regulation (GIR) is a very popular statistic that will help you improve your game. GIR is putting the ball on the putting surface with enough strokes to spare, to give yourself a chance for birdie or better. Club selection is a key to accomplishing this, and Golf Pad GPS provides recommendations for club selection, and also ability to review past rounds to see the distance you get from each club used. The app is great in helping identify trends that will help you lower your score.
Your short game can be improved also, with the ability to review your chips. Getting close enough to the hole to 1-put is the goal, and being able to identify greens missed or short chips certainly helps in achieving this goal. It’s easy to review and identify shots you had trouble with after your round is useful in resolving these issues and lowering your score.
Lastly, putting is key. “You drive for show, put for dough” as Bobby Locke said is still true today. The ability to track the length of your puts is key to understanding this part of the game. Maybe it was not identifying a break in the green, or just a flubbed stroke, regardless, the ability to track this aspect of your game easily is key.
That’s quite a bit to take in at once, but these are key areas of the game you need to keep track of. Golf Pad GPS is a great tool to help you do just that.
